I was denied from my last on-campus internship on April 5th, 2019, and on April 25th, 2022. I started working as an L4 software engineer at Google after quitting my job as an sd1 at Amazon.
Today I’d like to talk about how I went from almost no coding knowledge to working at companies like Amazon and Google with only three months of actual preparation, and I didn’t have any internships, fancy projects, or hackathons to show foreign and engineering maybe I picked up software engineering so there was a pretty long time that I was coding consistently.
So, in my second year, I was thinking about coding developments, but I didn’t know where to begin. If you’ve never interviewed for a tech company, let me explain the process and college may I believe most of the companies follow the same process so subsequently goes like online assessment and which interview round so online coding assessment.
My biggest problem was the knowledge thing which was mostly theoretical and I missed the most important part which was data structures and algorithms next is and this went on for quite some time you know what my biggest problem was the knowledge thing which was mostly theoretical and not having practical exposure.
How Did I Manage all the things?
I needed to prepare three things: data structures and algorithms, a project, and finally the course here subject, which was DBMS oops computer networks operating system compiler design compiler designing, which no one had ever studied before.
So, I began with the most important one: data structures and algorithms. I have to choose between python and c as a programming languages. I’d previously worked with C++, but python seemed straightforward, but it was a dynamically typed language with complicated notions, so I chose C.
What I’m going to do next is learn the foundations of C++ first, because it’s our property, and then go on to data structures and algorithms, which is the difficult part because I was extremely confused switching from free content like geeks for geeks to premium content.
So when I first started, I tried everything and tried to grasp the basics of seedless. I couldn’t keep up because there was so much information that I didn’t know what to do, so I went on to premium courses, namely coding ninjas’ interview preparation using C++. It was a lot more structured, and they also sold my doubts, so I’d say it was a worthwhile investment.
